Sushi theme queen size quilt

We were very excited to be approached by the owner of sushi restaurants, the Eatery and the General Public to create a sushi-themed quilt. This vibrant queen-size quilt consists of a redeveloped “Make Way for Ducklings” traditional quilt block and uniquely crafted applique nigiri pieces in the corners. The quilt blocks represent avocado, salmon, cucumber and tuna maki sushi.

My daughter and I worked on the sushi block design and fabric selection, and Azaria designed and hand-sewed the nigiri pieces.

Hand-Crafted Applique

These cute nigiri pieces were fun to make. From left to right we have a tamago (egg), ebi (prawn), salmon and hamachi (tuna) nigiri.
