Kobe theme queen size quilt

Part of our Christmas quilt commission was the creation of the Kobe Quilt. The theme gravitated around, Randy’s son, “Kobe.” That is first the idea of basketball, naming, Kobe Bryant – the Laker’s star basketball player – as one of the images in the quilt to be represented. The second idea was to cite “Kobe Beef.” The last reference was to Kobe Japan. We were able to find orange-themed basketball fabric and an arrangement of Japanese-themed fabrics – predominately in the blue and black colour range. For the backing, a print of a herd of cows rounded out the third theme. The design utilized a series of blocks set on the diagonal to emphasize the Japanese-themed fabrics and contrasting orange basketballs. As it is a standard queen size, the quilt will last Kobe well into his early adulthood.
