Armchair quilt with Mongolian Pony design
This armchair quilt, named “the Mongolian Pony,” was a collaboration between myself and my husband, who is an artist as well. The inspiration for this piece came from an international student of mine from Mongolia. He was about to become a father, and he and his wife felt very far away from their parents and grandparents while living in Vancouver, BC. His son was born in the middle of spring when his family would move their goats, yurts and horses to different pastures. He commented that their horses were shorter and more stout – referring to them as “ponies.”
